Who is Black?

Black is the 20th and last character, 5th vocal and the main antagonist in the Incredibox mod, Incredibox - Sprunki, while also being the character that changes Normal Mode to Horror Mode. He is the last canonical character besides Mard, as everyone else after him is either a cameo via an Incredibox reference or a meme.

Appearance

Black is a pitch-black Sprunki without a visible mouth, wearing a top hat that matches his body, and a white necktie. His eyes are visible, but you can only see his sclera since his pupils are black.

Personality

Black is an ominous and violent character, being the main antagonist and the reason the Sprunki world goes into chaos. He is stated to be "Frick'd up from the start." Despite this, Black sometimes breaks character and acts like a kind grandfather. He is easily distracted and forgetful, as he forgets to kill Gray and Jevin. He is also unable to kill Fun Bot, as he is immortal.

Sound and role on stage

Black belongs to the vocals group. Drag Black onto one of the seven slots and the loop starts in time with the rest of the mix. Vocal characters sing the lead line. They are the loudest layer in the mix, so one or two at a time usually sounds best.

Horror version

Black looks drastically different in his Phase 2 version. He is slightly taller than the other characters, and his body is more caved in. He has a balloon-like esque head in the game's horror mode, instead of having typical cartoonish art style features like the rest of the characters in this mod, Black’s face is replaced by a duotone human face, which is shrouded in darkness, for the most part.

Trivia

• Black is the only character that doesn't appear in Normal Mode, as placing him will instantly bring the player to Horror Mode.
  • As such, he is the only character to have a normal form that is not canon.
    • It's canon that his normal form is just a disguise for him to blend in.
  • This is due to him always being in his horror form, or "Frick'd up from the start", as stated by Nyanko.
• Black is the only character without an officially given name, as seen in the in-game gallery.
• He one of the few Sprunkis named after his color, along with:

• If you try to drag Black's icon to an Empty Polo without placing every character before him, you will be unable to do so. A message will be shown on-screen from Black, saying, "Don't mess with me yet... Meet your friends first", and on the Cocrea version, the icon will violently shake and move back to the original position.
  • On the Incredimake version, before its deletion, the icon doesn't shake as it moves itself back to the original position, letting you access Horror Mode before you meet the rest of them.
• Black is the only character who isn't animated at all, given that he doesn’t have a normal mode and that he does not move in Horror Mode.
  • While Mr. Tree (in Horror Mode) and Tunner (in Normal Mode of the Sprunki Cancelled Update) also don't have animations, it's the opposite case in the other mode; Mr. Tree has an animation in Normal Mode and Tunner has an animation in Horror Mode. Black just doesn't move.
• Black's old sprite had eyes underneath the face, which means his old sprite is built off of an even older sprite, which is seen in the gallery section.
• According to the creator of Sprunki, Nyanko, if Black were a normal character, he would have a low-pitched singing voice. Nyanko also described it as sounding like Voice 1 from Monochrome but pitched some octaves lower.
• According to Nyanko, Black occasionally breaks character and acts like a kind grandpa to the other characters.
  • This was originally a head canon of his and wasn't canon to the lore. However, in a later post, he changed his mind and made it canon.
• Black canonically hates content farms and brain rot, and for a good reason.
• It's possible that Black was responsible for Wenda becoming a killer in Horror Mode.

Black is part of the original cast, so you can play Black in Incredibox Sprunki and in every mod that keeps the 20 originals. The horror-themed phases redraw Black in their own style: Sprunki Phase 3, Sprunki Phase 4 and Sprunki Phase 5 each have a different take, while Sprunki Retake gives the whole cast a cinematic makeover.
